DVD Creator - Burn Video Maker App Reviews
I have a huge project and spent hours looking online for authoring software. Nothing matched up. This allows a custom background and submenus! Easy to use! The only thing I hope they fix is providing the ability to copy and paste repeating frames or texts boxes. Trying to align something exact is difficult, but not imposssible. It would be good to allow the app screen to go full width. It’s small within my computer window. Other than that I need to complete my first burn-but love what it allows me to do! Thanks for the app!!!
Impossible to use, not intuitive, don't bother
Wish I could get my money back. This does not function as advertised. Waste of time and money.
Keeps crashing every time I try to change text
No save button and keeps crashing every single time I try to add a text marker to anywhere.
Nice for DVD - Now do a BluRay version
Really appreciate someone building a nice and flexible DVD authoring program. Best I have found for the price and great flexability in creating decent menue screens. Now, please, please please make a BluRay version of this program... PLEASE!!
Slow but does the job
As others have said, don't bother using the "Burn DVD" function. Even with a built in Superdrive on my MBPro that always failed. Instead "Burn" to iso; then Rt-click on that file to burn to DVD. Even after creating and saving a project, when I added some text the app had to convert the unchanged video during the burn to iso process, which took an hour for my 3 hours of video.
Very Easy to custumize
Years ago DVD burners were great. It was easy to customize into your own preferences such as background pic, etc. This one is that good again. You can use what you want, plus they have their own backgrounds etc to use. I would highly recommend.
Kept crashing
Tried a couple of times to burn mp4s and the app just kept crashing. Tried to request refund but was "ineligible"
Easy to use but results are poor quality
Not the quality of the old iDVD app. After making one copy and playing it back the video looked horrible. Don't waste your money. Seems Apple believes that DVDs are a thing of the past. Too bad, I need to look for an alternative now.
No longer works
I am giving this 3 stars because it served me well in the past, but as of July 2021 it crashes repeatedly after a couple minutes.
What Evil Lurks At 55%?
I I figured out the interface. I ctread a simple viseo and hit the burn icon. It locked up my imac at 55% I saw an earlier complaint on this iss and the developers comment said that it was fixed. I downloaded mine just today, 4/16/2021. Maybe not fixed?

Crashes everytime I iuse it.
I didn't even get the chance to burn the dvd. As I was editing the menu options it quit every time. The problem was submited to Apple. Not worth the time and money.
Finally a burning app that works!!
I have spent the last week downloading and purchasing apps to make a DVD for a gift without success. Finally, this one works! I was using a .mov file from an exported iMovie and burning to a DVD5. I did not want a menu, and this app has that option. It authored my DVD into a readable format and while not blu-ray quality, it still looks decent enough for home movies. I hope this continues to work for those rare times I actually need to make a DVD that plays in a DVD player.
FINALLY! A legit, affordable replacement for iDVD!
I used to use iDVD a lot, what was it, 10 years ago? I just decided to make some new DVDS and bought Roxio Toast19 for $90. It was so disappointing, no menu customization, and it never actually completed a burn, failing every time! I got my money back and discovered DVD Creator! Not only it substantially less expensive, it worked every time! What I appreciate most is that the menues are VERY customizable, you can chance the font, size, color, position, you can have menu lings as text or photo or video clip, you can chose from many "frames" and easily adjust the length of chapters in sub-menus. Toast 19 could do NONE of that! I really like this app and have just a minor suggestion for an update, if possible. After I make chapters in sub menues, it would be great if I could name the chapters in the clip window so they can be identified easily. Thanks for saving the say with your app!
This did not work!
I had to buy this because of the update Catalina did not support the one I had used for years without a problem. This won't complete the burning of a DVD and just stops in the middle and won't continue. I don't like the

Works with Catalina
I went back and forth forever and finally decided to get this app to create a DVD of home movies. It worked great with Catalina and is easy to use. It's basic, but it works. I burned several DVDs right out of the gate without issue.
This Burner is a waste of time and money
I set up a DVD to burn with 3 videos. It accepted burn start and gave me progress window of “converting video”. 19 hours [yes you hard right] 19 hours later its progress bar had stuck at 32 percent. I gave up on this piece of *hit. I want my 14 bucks back. Wish I’d never bought it. GARBAGE GARBAGE GARBAGE
Not Worth it.
I’ve had nothing but trouble with it. I’ve tried to burn a 25 minute iMovie 3 different times, and each time I keep getting the same message half way through it, “Burn Failed”: It maybe caused byt the DVD Disc or the DVD Driver”.
Where is the Save Project??
When I started using this product, I could'nt find an option to save my work. I can't sit here all day and edit the video. I had a hard time figuring out how to add chapters and review what I had done. Worked on the project for about an hour and the program crashed. If it auto saves, I still have'nt found where...Help files or tech support nonexistant. Bad Purchase. I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT.
Working with 10.15.2
I needed to make some DVD's and this turned out to be the simplest solution. Works in my 2017 iMac with Catalina 10.15.2.
Works well but...
This app does the job like others on here I was in a bind since IDVD was discontinued and I had a client request a DVD as a deliverable. The only issue which drops the rating is that once I burn the DVD I cannot access the submenus I created only the main menu. Other than that this app works really well and far above the others I have tried.
Solid replacement for iDVD
I was looking for a software to allow me to create custom DVD menus. (I didn't test any of the movie editing features; I just used iMovie for that.) This software worked well for me, including burning directly from the program. My two drawbacks: Some of the templates, buttons, other options are a bit "informal." And I wasn't able to create more than one DVD menu pagae with back/next buttons. Otherwise the software worked well.

Perfect for general use
I'm not a geek professional movie maker so perhaps there are things this app cannot do. Given that, for someone like me who just plugs movies from iMovie onto a DVD, I cannot say enough good about this app. It is easy to use and has performed perfectly for me and has a full set of expected menu page creative ability. For the unprofessional do-it-yourselfer, I highly reccommend this app. And, it is not costly so it is a win-win.

Wanted to created a DVD menu for a project and am finding the interface confusing and "help" section and associated YouTube video isn't helpful.

App just OK so far...
The app is easy to use as fare as tile creation, customizing title page and adding videos, etc. The trouble I have is that when selecting to burn to DVD it’s converting the project “Convert Video”. It’s been running all night and is only at 29%. I know the conversion is based on processor speed and amount of ram, but this seems a bit excessive. Hoping that once the conversion is done it will be saved for the next time I choose to burn the project to DVD.
Don’t waste your money
Not user friendly at all. Not intuitve to use. Did not let me load one very brief video at all. Limits the number of short videos to 12 per blank dvd even though the disc can hold 47 GB! Could not get all my short videos on a single disc!! Would not let me load jpeg photos to burn to the disc along with the videos. But worst of all, I loaded twelve short vidoeos to the app and while it displayed them all it only burned 8 of them to the disc. A big waste of time and money.
Great replacement for iDVD!
This app does most everything you want to do, although it doesn’t have the attractive templates of iDVD. Nevertheless, I had no problems figuring it out, and made several DVDs right away, some with submenus and unique backgrounds. If it failed at burning, I simply made an iso file—much easier for burning multiple copies, too. Worth the inexpensive cost!
Poorly made app
First of all riddled with spelling errors. Clearly not an app developed by enlgish speakers. The interface is non intuite and takes a while to learn. This app is best served for creating cheap DVD’s. This app does not create high quality renders for DVD replication.
Much easier than iDVD
I have used iDVD since getting my first iMac (when Intel chip came out). Just upgraded and was disappointed at first to learn iDVD does not work with High Sierra, retina screen. I upgraded specifically to have more video RAM and processing power for my video processing and DVD burning. (I make DVD’s to show at funerals and church.) Well, iMovie is fine for putting all together, and this program puts it out similarly to iDVD but much more quickly and more intuitively. Yes. My upgrade is complete!
Decent replacement for iDVD
iDVD is so highly regarded that many users dedicate their legacy machines to the application. Recently, I found I couldn’t master or burn DVDs without instability issues creeping in - and that’s where DVD Creator - Burn Maker comes in. 1. DVD Creator is both fast and stable. I haven’t ended up with a single bad platter, and burning a one-hour video takes only a half-hour at the highest setting. 2. Video quality is very good, though not as bright and detailed as iDVD. 3. Value is outstanding. There are more than a few DVD burning programs out there, but at under $20, the results are very solid. 4. Don’t expect the eye-catching animations that made iDVD so special. 5. I loved how I can burn .mkv files directly to DVD without reconverting - a huge time-saver! 6. The software is easy to learn. You can burn DVDs in minutes, though I wouldn’t mind more special themes or animations. If you’re uncertain about the software, you can download a free version of the application. However, the burned videos will have a hugh watermark on the screen. But at least you’ll have a good sense of that the full, paid version can (or cannot) do.

i tried to add the video from. my desktop and its doesnt work i want a refund i tried so many times but it doesnt work
Unsable - Crashes on 2nd burn / Support Link doesn’t work
I was disappointed in the app. It will burn the first DVD okay (slow) but when I try to burn a 2nd DVD, it crashes. The work around is to completely shut down the mac and then restart the mac and app. Very cumbersome. Also, check out their customer support link on the Apple website…it doesn’t work!!! I tried to search for the webpages using a search engine and came up with nothing. NO SUPPORT!
Horrible Program
I bought this program from the app store. I put some home videos on my mac and tried to burn them to a DVD using this program. It failed every single time. I contacted customer service for the app and they told me that I should just burn an iso image instead. So basically I had to do another step. Well I did that and it worked fine and I can make my DVDs that way but instead of actually fixing the problem with their software they just told me to do an extra step. When I emailed them back they told me it was something wrong with my equipment which is clearly not the case because I can burn dvds and cds both using other programs with no issue at all. This is a crapy program and the customer service is even worse!! I highly suggest you don’t buy this program. JUNK!!
NOT iDVD
No way to make sub-menus. The create sub-menu button is grayed out, just teasing you. Burned a dvd but only half the videos can be accessed. Sorry piece of crap!
Junk Software
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I had hoped that this program would work based on the star rating, but I was wrong. It took 90 minutes to render and burn a movie file and then the DVD was unreadable. This app is a slow piece of junk software. I you need a DVD burn program find one that has a free trial version before you buy.
Really Don’t Know How Others Rated It So High
Bought this app based on previous customer ratings. Bad idea. Menu structures and being able to, say, create a button that takes you to another screen or submenu, is impossible. Help “document” is a joke, similar to other posts. The old iDVD was way better than this… and it was free. Unless this is majorly updated, don’t waste your money.
Take your iTunes Movies on the Road
I needed a DVD authoring application to do only ONE thing; allow me to burn some of my kid's Mp4 iTunes movies to a DVD so we could watch them on the screen in the Mini Van DVD player. THIS APP IS PERFCET FOR THAT!!!!! I know it can do so much more, and one day I may use those other features, but for now, this app does what I needed it to do and it does it REALLY well. It even has the added feature (and much appriciated) of checking a box that removes the front menu entirely and allows the disk to simply be inserted and Autoplay. No more trying to navigate a DVD menu while driving. Just put the disk in the slot and that is it. I don’t even need to hit play. Once again, I am SURE this app can make nice, full featured DVDs with menus, chapters, and such. But really, who needs that these days. Most of us just want to put the disk in the player and have the movie start. This app does that perfectly.

This has really made my day. I was getting very frustrated by IT guys telling me DVDs are from the dinosaur age and with software programs that either did’t come with simple instructions or just plain didn’t work. This program makes burning a DVD easy!

Been looking for a program to create DVDs ever since I bought my first iMac. I had a 2 hr movie in iMovie and it burned perfectly and quality was really good on the TV.
Worth the money
I was just looking for a video dvd burner to burn some videos to be watched on the car dvd player. I saw some apps costing $50, a total rip off. For $15, this app is really a good deal.

Visual quality suck…video wont open up to full screen
As of right now…all this product is doing for me is burning. the Video is burning at the size of 2 inch bu 2 inch. The crisp quality of my original video is now showing/burning a fogggy version! And remember it not openong up to ful screen! The help box does not help at all! I want my money back! I went by all the positive reviews when I purashed this app….now I need to send it back. Want my money back…or fix the problems ASAP! VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!! SO Im back after 10 minutes and my review still is the same. very poor quality! i was able to open up the video, but overall not a great product!
